How can I order from Davidsons?

Placing an order with us couldn’t be simpler. You can place your order online here, selecting whether you wish it to be delivered to your home/workplace or to collect from our either of our stores. How will my order arrive?

Your order will normally be sent to you in a solid frozen state. All our meat is vacuum packed and blast frozen when it hits it’s prime eating condition thus ensuring you get the best meat in the best condition possible. Deliveries are then dispatched on a 24 delivery service with our designated courier. (Note: some areas will be 48 Hrs) Your order will be packed in a fully insulated box to protect it on its journey with dry-ice packs to ensure that your order stays at the optimum temperature. Please note: Dry-Ice is dangerously cold. There is an important notice within each box that gives clear instructions on the safe handling and disposal should there still be some in a solid state.

When will my delivery arrive?

We aim for your order to be delivered on the date you specify, between the hours of 8am and 6pm. However, due to unforeseen circumstances out with our control when using an external courier service, we sometimes experience delayed deliveries by 24 hours. We always recommend allowing for this rare scenario when choosing your delivery date.

If you are not in, the driver will leave your order in a safe place if possible and will also put a card through your door to let you know he’s been. How much does delivery cost?

Delivery Charges have changed in light of increased delivery, fuel, & packaging cost – we do however continue to absorb as much as we can. We are monitoring the situation daily and will make adjustments as and when we feel necessary.

Delivery is FREE on orders of £75.00 or more within areas that do not incur delivery surcharges.

If your delivery is to a remote area which is not mentioned on the list, not covered or creates any unforeseen issues, we will contact you by telephone to discuss additional charges prior to any order being finalised and despatched.

Seasonal Premium delivery charges*

From 19th – 31st December there will be a Premium delivery service charge added as follows:

All “Local” deliveries where we use our own and local transport, with a minimum order value of £35 will incur a £5.00 delivery charge whatever the value of the order. Where the order value is below £35 further additional charges will apply.

All “National” deliveries out-with the areas where we directly deliver to will also incur a delivery charge of £5.00 on all orders where the value is above the normal free delivery threshold of £75. All delivery charges to orders under the value of £75 will remain unchanged at this time.

For the meantime delivery costs will remain unchanged until 20th December when this minimum increase will be applied to cover additional costs associated with our guaranteed premium delivery service.

Where do you deliver?

We deliver all over the UK, including Northern Ireland and Highlands & Islands although outlying areas often carry a surcharge. How do I store my order?

When you unpack your order, place any fresh items directly into your fridge and frozen items directly into your freezer as soon as possible. Your produce should be clearly labelled with use by or best before dates on the packaging. This information tells you how long you can safely store our products in your refrigerator or freezer. Anything supplied fresh is suitable for home freezing, unless otherwise stated on the pack.

Ensure that your refrigerator is set at between 0°C and 5°C for FRESH items. FROZEN items should be stored at -18ºC.

How do I thaw the produce?

We always recommend thawing items in your fridge overnight. Place the item you wish to thaw in a dish with some Kitchen roll or a cloth to absorb any juices and moisture that may escape from the packaging during the thaw.

How soon can I use the product on arrival?

On arrival the produce will be frozen. Although a few items may be suitable to cook from frozen, we recommend thawing thoroughly to ensure product cooks correctly and most importantly safely.

What if I’m not happy with my order?

What cut do I need for my recipe?

If you have a specific recipe or cooking method in mind, and can’t find or are unsure of the cut you need then please get in touch. One of the best things about buying your beef from John Davidsons – a REAL Butcher’s Shop – is that you can have your cuts prepared exactly as you want them… all you have to do is ask!
