The John Dee Grain Fed Brisket is a solid, reliable choice for barbecue and low-and-slow cooking, offering good eating quality and dependable performance. These are standard grain fed briskets and will require some trimming depending on the finish and presentation you want to achieve. With consistent structure across the flat and point, they are well suited to smoking, roasting, or barbecue applications where controlled fat rendering and flavour development are key.
Personally, I’ve cooked a couple of these good value briskets and don’t trim them too aggressively. A hot-and-fast cook works particularly well, allowing the fat to render efficiently while keeping the meat juicy and flavourful. When handled this way, they turn out really well for a grain-finished brisket of this type, delivering a satisfying balance of tenderness, moisture, and classic beef flavour.
